KHS Senior Starts Clothing Brand

Kenston High School senior Kaden Selby is trying to make his mark in the fashion world with his new clothing brand Wondr.

According to Selby, Wondr isn’t just about looking good — it’s also about much more. Selby’s clothes are made to fit seamlessly into any wardrobe, offering a touch of personality without shouting for attention. Drawing inspiration from hip-hop and streetwear icons such as Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack and Young Thug’s brand Spider, Selby is crafting a style emphasizing earthy tones and easy-to-wear designs while fostering a community of self-expression and belonging.

“It’s simple clothing that people can wear without feeling that they’re standing out too much, but also that represents themselves,” Selby explains.

Unlike brands that target a niche audience, Wondr takes a more inclusive approach. Selby explains that the focus is on designs that can appeal to a broad spectrum of people while conveying a unified message.

The brand’s design process is a collaborative effort, with many creative minds in the fashion community coming together through social media to strike a balance between the trends of today while also creating a timeless look. “The process starts with just an idea of working with designers and working on what I’m going for in terms of the concept and the theme,” says Selby.

Currently, Selby’s biggest goal is building a loyal following. He’s spreading the word about Wondr across social media, aiming to connect with people who get what his brand is all about.

He’s on a mission to create a community — a space where patrons feel like they belong to something special. “One of my biggest goals is creating just a great community around my brand,” says Selby.

For Selby, Wondr is more than just a way to make money. “The money doesn’t really mean too much, to be honest,” Selby explains. “I feel like what drives the value and ideas of the brand is just creating a community — creating that sense of acceptance with other people wearing the same clothes as you”.

Wondr sells all of its clothing online on its website wondrstudios.org. The process of selling often involves heavy advertising on social media platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok, where once a certain threshold of engagement is reached a date is set for the clothing to release. This helps Wondr to reach a broad audience and allows its fans to connect with each other on a greater level than other brands.

Selby hopes that with the connection between fans of the brand, Wondr can become a platform for self-expression and a gathering place for those who resonate with the brand’s ideas of simplicity togetherness.▮
