3D ART STUDENTS MAKE PUPPETS

Students in 3D Art worked in groups to create character puppets for their final project of the semester.

Once the puppets were finished, each group created a short video starring their characters as part of a competition.

The students sewed the puppets by hand following a pattern and then gave the puppets creative features such as faces, ears, fur, and clothes.

“I love how it incorporates the use of many skills such as technology for filming the projects as well as learning some traditional techniques such as hand sewing,” said 3D Art teacher Mrs. Elizabeth Bibza.

Each group was given creative freedom — being able to create any character that they wanted — making this project a fun way to end the semester.

The project also showed the students’ abilities to work well as a group because each part of the puppet was made by a different individual.

“I started the project because I thought it would be fun for the kids as it is something different compared to the rest of the projects they do in this class,” said Bibza.

This assignment gives the students the ability to express a new style of 3D art compared to what they had learned throughout the semester.▮
