REMINDER: Drop Off/Pick Up Procedures (Car Riders)

October 29, 2021
(ORIGINAL LETTER FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR)

Dear Families:

This year, both KIS and TES will continue to implement curbside drop off and pick up procedures for families who choose to transport their child rather than utilizing bus transportation.

Safety in the car rider line is very important. If you are unable to use bus transportation and need to use the afternoon car rider line, you must complete a separate Car Rider Application for each child. Each family household will be provided two vehicle tags and a bookbag tag for each student being picked up. The tags will be available for pick up beginning August 17th during our Meet the Teacher event. It is important that you attach the backpack tag to your child’s backpack. For safety reasons, no student will be permitted to use the car rider line until an application is submitted and completed.

Attached to the drop off and pick up procedures is a traffic map that outlines the traffic pattern that drivers must follow. We will follow the same pattern as last year. It is important that everyone follow the traffic pattern so that our bus fleet can maneuver safely during dismissal. If you have a child at both KIS and Timmons, you will begin the pick up process with KIS.

We understand that families might arrange car pooling plans. In the event that you are making such arrangements, we ask that you include authorization in your car rider application for additional drivers that may be picking up your child. You will be responsible to share the assigned car tag with those individuals. In a shared parenting situation, each parent should complete the application process.
Thank you for your cooperation with our drop off and pick up procedures which is for the safety of all children at Kenston Intermediate School. We appreciate your patience during the start of school as we work to implement arrival and dismissal safety procedures in our building.

All the best,
Matt Watts
