Sunday, May 24, 2020

Good Evening KIS Families,
We have come to the end of the 2019-20 school year and if I could sum up the year in one word it would be, Thankful!
Thankful for our dedicated staff
Thankful for our energetic students
Thankful for our collaborative Board of Education
Thankful for our hard-working administrators
Thankful for our many caring and committed teacher’s aides, proctors and related service staff
Thankful for our non-stop maintenance and cleaning crews
Thankful for our incredible townships of Auburn and Bainbridge
And most of all, Thankful for the perseverance of our amazing Kenston Families!
The KIS staff and I have put together a couple of fun activities for you to participate in before we part for the Summer.
1-  Check out this Bitmoji Picture of the KIS staff.  Your task is to figure out which Bitmoji fits which staff member.  Click HERE for your answer sheet to keep track.
2.-  Click HERE for a special Goodbye and Have a great Summer from many of our KIS staff members.
Together, we have redefined what it means to say that “Bombers Fly Together”!  As you read through this final update, please know that this experience has made us closer, stronger and more prepared for our future then ever before.  Congratulations 4th and 5th graders on a “Job Well Done”!
Be Well Bomber Nation!
Neighborhood Drive Through
We look forward to celebrating the last day of school on Thursday, May 28.   Our bus fleet will be conducting their elementary school routes with fanfare leaving campus at 3:15 p.m. for all grade levels. The drivers will slow down at each stop and honk their horns as they proceed through our community.  We hope that our students can be at their designated place of safety and wave to our buses and staff who ride along. Please plan for a ten-minute window around your child’s elementary regular drop off time.
We are excited to see as much of our Bomber family as possible on the tour, and wish all of Bomber Nation a wonderful summer!
Pick up and Drop off
What are we looking for?
  • KIS Library books
  • Classroom reading books
  • Geauga County Library books (March Madness books)
  • Text books
  • Chromebooks
  • Hot spots
Procedure:
  • If possible, please write your student’s last name and homeroom teacher’s name on a sheet of paper or cardboard to hold up or place in the windshield as you approach.
  • Please approach the building from the East (Timmons side of Campus). We will follow a similar traffic pattern as to how we drop students off in the morning.  The lane closest to the building and sidewalk will be moving Westbound (towards Snyder Rd).  There will be 4 stations along the sidewalk clearly labeled with homeroom teacher last names on large signs.  Please pull up to the station that matches your student’s homeroom where staff members wearing gloves and masks will approach the car.  One staff member will retrieve materials from a backseat, trunk or person in the car and a second staff member will place student materials into the vehicle.  Please remain in your cars.  It may be tempting to get out to talk, hug or take pictures of students with our staff but we cannot permit this to happen.  For the safety of all, please adhere to this guideline.
  • If you are returning books that belong in your child’s classroom, we ask that they be placed in a bag, labeled with your child’s teacher name.  Library books from our main library or the Geauga County Library should not be in that bag and should remain separate.
  • If you borrowed a chromebook, the chromebook and power cable must be returned together.  If you borrowed a hotspot, the hotspot should be returned in the box that it came in when it was loaned out.
  • If your child has medication (over the counter or prescription) still at KIS please let a staff member know as you pull up and Mrs. DiMarco, Mr. Fender or Ms. Trimble will deliver that to your car.
  • Your child’s teacher may communicate any unique details that pertain to his or her class regarding materials to be picked up.
  • All 4th Grade Artwork will be held until the return of school in August.  Yearbooks will be available for pick up if one was purchased.

5th Grade Students
Along with personal items that were left behind, 5th grade students will receive their binoculars from our Nature Scopes Program, artwork from art class and a yearbook if one was purchased.
