Water pipes burst at KIS

December 27, 2022

Dear Kenston Families,

Last night due to the freezing temperatures and thaw, several pipes burst at Kenston Intermediate School, causing flooding on the 2nd floor and the 5th grade hallway, bursting ceiling tiles and saturating carpets.

The maintenance team and a restoration company are working diligently to clean up the standing water and debris. Once this is completed, we will be working with the restoration company to determine the needed repairs and the water damage restoration process, as well as a timeline for completion. Like homeowners, the district maintains property insurance for events like this.

I appreciate the efforts of our maintenance and custodial staff, who have responded to this challenge and have jumped in to address the clean-up.

As additional information becomes available, I will share it with you. Again, I am grateful for your support of the Kenston Schools.

Sincerely,

Steven A. Sayers

Superintendent
