The State of Ohio will again provide Back to School shoppers with an August sales tax holiday. The event will take place beginning on Friday, August 4, 2023, starting at 12:00am through Sunday, August 6, 2023, at 11:59pm.
During this time, only the following items will be exempt from sales and use tax, if they are not used in a trade or business:
Clothing priced at $75 or less;
School supplies priced at $20 or less; and
School instructional materials priced at $20 or less
There is no dollar limitation on the total purchase of a transaction to qualify for the holiday. Instead, the sales tax exemption is determined on each item purchased during the above dates.
