PTO Council Update

Becky Alexander, President, and Traci Felton, Vice President, of the Kenston PTO Council provided an informational update for the Board of Education on the district-wide PTO programs along with the background of the PTO Council.
PTO Council is made up of the executive board and each of the building PTO presidents. The reason for PTO Council is to govern and unify the building-level PTOs. They shared that through all of the activities, projects, and events, the mission of the PTO is to encourage and enhance the education and welfare of the students at Kenston.
Timmons Elementary is the “Welcome Center” of Kenston, where families can get a feel for Kenston. It many times is the first school experience, and with events like the Summer Play Date, Timmons Talk and the back-to-school evening events, where families can begin to make those important connections. The Timmons PTO is also responsible for planning class parties and hosting the End-of-Year party.
The Intermediate School PTO provides a bridge between the younger experiences and middle school. The goal is to encourage individuality through events like the Run-A-Thon, where students set goals to run laps and earn money for the school, and also through the February Service project.
The PTO at Kenston Middle School works more behind the scenes, while still encouraging the mission and goals of the PTO. Field days, dance concessions and the May Awards Night are all brought to you by the PTO.
Kenston High School PTO focuses on highlighting successes and celebrating our students. From end-of-the-quarter ice cream treats, to contributions to the Hub, After Prom, and the senior awards, the PTO at the High School is constantly working and planning.
