As part of the district’s overall plan to return students to school, the 2020/21 academic calendar has been revised with a later start date. Teachers will begin on Friday, August 21, 2020 and the first day for students will be Monday, August 31, 2020. This change accomplishes three important objectives:
- It provides additional time for staff in-service on safety and health protocols and professional development preparing for students smooth transition to in-person and virtual instruction.
- It allows the district to evaluate further and respond to local/county COVID trends when returning to school.
- It avoids warmer temperatures in August as students and staff will be wearing masks. (Kenston Middle School and Kenston Intermediate School classrooms have been outfitted with air conditioning units.)
