At the January 18 Special Meeting, the Kenston Board of Education appointed Ryan H. Pendleton, through Northeast Ohio Educational Service Center (ESC), as the interim treasurer until a permanent treasurer is welcomed to the District. The District will pay the ESC $5,000 per month for the interim services. Mr. Pendleton will become the District’s treasurer of record on February 1, 2023; however, he and his team will begin transitioning on January 23, 2023.
“We are grateful for the services the ESC is providing us during this period. Mr. Pendleton has a great deal of experience and brings along with him a team of experts to support the District,” said Jennifer Troutman, President of Kenston Board of Education. “Business will continue as usual while the Board conducts its search for the next treasurer.”
Mr. Pendleton is a veteran treasurer who started his career in public education in 2005 as assistant treasurer of the Barberton City School District before becoming their Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer from 2006 to 2014. In 2014, he was named Chief Financial Officer of the Akron Public Schools. While at the Akron Schools, he was honored with Ohio Treasurer of the Year by the Ohio Association of School Business Officials. In 2022, he was named the Executive Director of the North Coast Shared Services Alliance. The North Coast Shared Services Alliance coordinates financial and operations support through the Educational Service Centers of Northeast Ohio, Medina, Lorain, and Summit Counties.
