Bowling Teams Open 2021-22 Seasons

The Kenston bowling teams return for a hopeful 2021-22 season after a great run last year.

The Kenston boys bowling team started off with a win against Brush High School on Monday. Then, both teams had their first home match against Mayfield on Wednesday, where the girls took the win making them 1-0 and the boys improved to 2-0.

Jenna Stretch led the girls team taking the lead against Mayfield. Jack Rieger led the boys on Monday and Trevor Stretch had the highest score for the boys on Wednesday.

The teams return Stretch, the 2021 girls div. 2 state champion, and other veterans in addition to many new members to both teams. The increase in players this season caused the teams to hold tryouts for the first time.

“Which in some ways is a good thing, and in other ways it’s bad because you might have some people lose interest,” said Coach Bill Drsek.

With the growth of the team, the more experienced players have stepped in to help the new bowlers since they have never competed at this level before.

“With the volume of many new athletes coming in teaching them the proper way to bowl, proper technique, and educating them on basic bowling knowledge,” said Coach Drsek.

Coach Bill Drsek looks to win the conference and to send both the boys and girls teams to the state championship. But for now, the Bombers hope to continue winning as they take on their first tournament on Dec. 4 at Wickliffe Lanes.▮
