Academic Boosters

Katy McGrath represented and highlighted the work of Kenston Academic Boosters to recognize, celebrate and reward academic achievement at all levels at the high school.

The following is an overview of what the Academic Booster does during the school year:

  • Academic Improvement Recognition (recognize students who increase their GPA by .5 or better grading periods)
  • Scholar Athlete Torch patch to be worn on the Varsity jacket of student-athletes that excel in the classroom and on the athletic field, earning a varsity letter in each.
  • Provide the Presidential Award of Academic Excellence (recognizing students that maintain a 3.5 unweighted GPA and then also combine with completing and documenting established community service requirements (25, 50, 75, and 100 hours).
  • Provide funding for co-curricular and academic activities.
  • Award a scholarship to a graduating senior.
  • Last year, in place of Top 15 recognition, the ACE awards were created to highlight and celebrate the Achievement, Citizenship, and Excellence of members of the Senior class. During the 2nd semester, based on faculty and staff nominations, nearly 80 students were recognized on social media for their accomplishments.
  • Provide opportunities for Senior students to recognize and appreciate teachers and staff members with an Appreciation Certificate in May.

The Academic Boosters appreciate the efforts of Linda Hanzak, Guidance Administrative Assistant, and the generous donors’ support to provide this recognition for our students.
