Radiothon Comes to an End

On Saturday, April 9th, the radio class finished up their annual fund drive, also known as Radiothon. Radiothon is a week-long event where the radio station, WKHR FM 91.5, raises money through listener donations in order to continue operating the radio station. WKHR is one of the few non-commercial radio stations left in the Cleveland area, which means the only way they can make money is through donations. All week long, students and volunteer disk jockeys make pitches on live air encouraging listeners to donate, and they field calls from the listeners to take their “pledge.” Seniors Ben DeFranco and Matt Shell expressed their thoughts about Radiothon saying, “Radiothon is always a really cool week because there is no other class at Kenston where you get to raise thousands of dollars,” and “Although Radiothon can be a stressful week, I always have tons of fun during it.”  Personally, I have always had a blast during Radiothon, and I am glad I had the opportunity to take part in it.
