Expedition No. 7: Bell & Flower

DISCLAIMER: The food that you’re about to see may vary in price and quality from restaurant to restaurant.

Date: 12:12 PM, April 7, 2018

Location: Bell & Flower in Chagrin Falls, OH (86 N Main St)

On today’s expedition, we’re going local and taking a look at a brand new restaurant in Chagrin Falls, otherwise known as Bell & Flower!  Originally, it was well-known to many members of the Chagrin Falls community as Rick’s Cafe, but the original building has been recently renovated after there was a change in ownership from the original owners to Shawn Monday and Michael Schwartz (They also own Flip Side and two other places).  I will admit, there has been a lot of change in Chagrin Falls with all the new spots to eat at over the years, so I’m pretty excited to give B&F a try.

We’re going to go easy today and try something simple, just a Nashville style fried chicken sandwich with pickles and spicy mayo on a brioche bun.  Fries included, too.  You know how this goes:

  • Taste
  • Presentation
  • Originality

So, with this sandwich you have the option of getting it regular or with hot sauce in the fry batter, so I opted for the latter.  It does offer some kick which I like, but I think there could’ve been some more hot sauce and that would’ve been better for the sandwich.  The chicken itself was very crispy, and the mayo also worked well and added tang to the meal.  The only other concern that I have is that they DID forget to put pickles on the sandwich, so I had to ask for them later on.  It was still a pretty alright meal, and I did come back a week or so later to try their banh mi burger.  That was also pretty neat, too.

Taste: 7/10
Presentation: 5/10
Originality: 5/10

TOTAL SCORE: 6/10.  It was a pretty good sandwich, and their menu seems to have some interesting items on it!  Give it a try whenever you can.

Bowling Shoes: The New Fashion Trend?

Recently, there’s been something bizarre occurring at Kenston.  Students like Blaze Lanzilotti and Ethan Brinkman-Sull have been observed wearing bowling shoes to school for unknown reasons.  Perhaps it’s the start of a new fashion trend?  When asked why he was wearing the shoes to begin with, Blaze simply responded with “Desperate times call for desperate… Continue Reading

Lost Website Categories

Over the course of the semester, I’ve learned a lot about the KHS Website while making my regular food reviews and required articles.  However, I’ve been noticing a lot of strange things that I think go unnoticed when I take a look around.  Abandoned drafts, unused categories, stuff like that.  Here’s some of the highlights… Continue Reading
