Baseball: KHS 4 ~ Chardon 6

Friday April 12th, 4:30 pm EST @ Kenston HS Varsity Field

Chardon scored 3 runs in the top half of the 6th inning, aided by a fielding error, a hit-batsman, and a mental error in route to a 6-4 victory over Kenston at Kenston HS Varsity Field. With the win, the Hilltoppers split the season series with the Bombers. Chardon added another unearned run in the top half of the 7th inning to close out the scoring. Kenston out-hit Chardon 13-7 led by Bomber junior captain Tyler Mintz and freshmen Ryan Miller with 3 hits apiece, and junior Chase King also banging out 2 hits. Chardon was led at the plate by seniors Richie Stefancic and Mikey Corsillo with 2 hits apiece. Hilltopper Corsillo plated 3 runs for Chardon. Chardon reliever Austin Smith picked up the win in relief, while senior captain Blaise Gorski suffered his 2nd loss of the season. Chardon’s senior Evan Fairbanks recorded the save in relieve to close out the game for the Hilltoppers. Chardon improves to 6-6 and 2-3 in WRC play, while Kenston drops to 6-7 overall and 4-2 in league play.
