The Kenston boys basketball team lost their first game of the season against Rhodes, 75-74, in an overtime battle in the Great Lakes Classic at Cleveland Heights High School.
The game went into overtime where the Bombers fought hard, coming up with some huge steals. However a few careless mistakes ultimately led to Kenston losing by one point.
“We lost the game in the final minutes with bad decisions,” said senior guard Jett Ransom, who scored 13 points.
The boys got off to a slow start, going down by ten points early and letting up multiple fast break dunks.
However, energy from the bench helped the Bombers rally back in the second quarter, regaining the lead. From there, the game remained a back and forth contest throughout, with neither team gaining a large lead.
The team looks to learn from their mistakes in this non-conference game to help them in the future.
“We just need to work on coming out strong. We were down early which killed us in the end,” said senior forward Ryan Long, who was the Bombers leading scorer with 19 points.
The Bombers make their home debut when they host Benedictine on Tuesday, Dec. 4.
