This time of the year, it may get dark outside around 5:30 p.m. But there is plenty of daylight ahead for the Kenston football team.
With Jon Tomcufcik, Jack Porter and Jay Middleton acting as a three-man wrecking crew, the Bombers will be playing next week against Canfield, thanks to their 40-21 win against Buckeye on Nov 9.
“Buckeye is a good football team, and we just executed today,” Coach Jeff Grubich said. “Have to give credit to our coaches and players stepped up big tonight, can’t be more proud of them.”
The Bombers’ scoring began with a Porter 8-yard touchdown run. The first play on the drive was set up by a 55-yard play by Middleton. Buckeye quickly responded with quarterback Jacob Doerge’s 4-yard touchdown run.
The Bombers were able to keep their feet on the gas pedal, scoring on the next three drives: A Mintz 5-yard touchdown catch, Middleton scoring from 53 yards out and Porter’s 5-yard touchdown run to go to halftime.
Porter ran for 129 yards on 25 carries. Middleton caught four passes for 135 yards and Tomcufcik had three touchdown passes for 195 yards on 12 completed passes.
“Everybody did their jobs tonight, Tomcufcik said. “Everyone was making plays tonight and just amazing when every single player contribute.”
