Every two years, the GCHSHL makes changes to each division to ensure each division has competitive hockey teams. With the end of this past season, speculations around Shaker making a move to be the first public high school in the GLHL was confirmed. They moved into the GLHL, which is traditionally a private school exclusive league. Along with Shaker disappearing from Red North, the entire red division was revamped. For starters, WRA has been removed entirely, as well as Midview. While they move down, Benedictine is brought up to Red South. Also in Red South will be Solon, Strongsville, North Olmsted, and your Kenston Bombers. Red North consists of Rocky River, Mentor, Hudson, and Cleveland Heights. Even though the Bombers are now in Red South, they will play every team in Red North once. Expectations for the Bombers next year will be very high. Kenston is set up to win Red South. Strongsville likely is the largest threat in the division as they were able to beat Mentor and played very well against other solid teams last year. Jay Ohlsen on the Kenston hockey team says “It is disappointing that we are being moved to a lower division but I am excited to play some new teams.” Good luck to the Bombers next year!
