The KHS Winter Dance has been RESCHEDULED for March 12th @ 7PM in the Gym.

TODAY: Last day to Sign-up for the next Speaker Series on February 24 and will focus on the career field of Media. Spots are limited to 75 students. All interested students must sign up by Friday 2/12/16. A lottery will be used to determine student participants.

THIS WEEK: “Start with Hello Week!” designed to reach out to those dealing with chronic social isolation. Social isolation basically means, a lack of contact with people or in some cases no contact with people at all. Social isolation can happen to any person regardless of their age. You can help bring awareness to the problem by participating in the Start with Hello Week! On

FRIDAY February 12, will be “No One Eats Alone”. No one eating alone is something that all students can help prevent. If you see someone eating alone at lunch, ask them to join you.

Pre-Vet Meet & Greet at Hiram College on Saturday, March 5 @ 1:00 p.m., for anyone interested in pre-veterinarian studies. Refreshments provided. RSVP by March 2nd to amports@hiram.edu.

KCE is offering an ACT preparation course starting Tuesday, February 16. The course, taught by Mr. Koltas and Mr. Marchesi, will offer test taking and pacing strategies for all content areas addressed on the exam, including the optional writing section. Registration forms are available in guidance, A119, or on the KCE website.

Juniors and Seniors- It’s time to start thinking about the annual Kenston After Prom Fashion show, which will be Friday, March 4. Get your groups and get ready! Sign-up in Guidance 2/4, 2/5, 2/11 and 2/12. Deadline is 2/17! The Fashion Show is a fundraiser for After Prom, so the Kenston PTO needs as many people as possible to make the show a success.

Kenston Foundation Scholarship has arrived!
26 Scholarships available this year in one application. In addition to application, two reference letters and resume, you must submit a separate essay (at least one paragraph long) in support of each scholarship for which you have applied. Turn in to Guidance by the end of the day Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Auburn Career Center is having Freshman Thursday’s during the month of February. It’s easy…
1). Pick a Thursday in February
2). Get a permission slip from your school counselor
3). Return the signed permission slip
4). Choose two Auburn programs to visit.

Seniors – the preliminary lists of SENIORS GRADUATING WITH HONORS and those receiving HONORS DIPLOMAS is posted on the Guidance window across from the library. Please check this list. If you feel you deserve these honors and don’t see your name, contact your Guidance Counselor. Also, the seniors receiving COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS to date are listed. Seniors have until April 29 to turn in completed and signed community service hours.

College Credit Plus—Grades 7-12:
Kenston High School will host the annual College Credit Plus Info Night on February 18 here at KHS.
ALL students interested in participating in College Credit Plus for the 2016-17 school year (taking high school and college courses at the same time) MUST attend Kenston’s info session – this includes those who are already in the program, those planning to take classes off-campus and those who plan to take CCP classes offered here at KHS. Mark the date on your calendar. One parent and the student must attend. There are several important changes for the coming year and intent forms must be signed and turned in by the MANDATED DEADLINE – March 18. See Guidance if you have questions.
