As the end of February approaches, so does another swim season. The Kenston boys and girls swim team had a great season this year, winning many dual meets, placing 3rd in the WRC, and nearly the whole team making it to sectionals. The boys and girls ended their season with a dual meet against Chagrin, and it being senior night for both teams.
Many seniors are bittersweet about their last meet. Even though it was a tough loss against Chagrin, senior Shelby Zenobi said, “Even though we didn’t win, we came together and left as a team and that’s something I’ll always remember about the last meet of the season”. The seniors this year were Erica Abbarno, Samuel Kosiorek, Maggie Krause, Caroline Madden, Hunter Neal, Emily Nichols, Josh Shahidian, Grace Novinc, Abbey Taylor, Bradley Toth, and student manager Andrew Smith.
Even with a tough loss, the girls 200 Medley Relay A placed first, sophomore Makena Maurer placed first in her 100 Freestyle and 200 Freestyle, freshman Sophia Raudins placed first in the 100 Breast, freshman Billy Glime placed first in the 100 Back, and many other swimmers placed very well at the meet. Throughout the season, the KHS Swim & Dive team excelled and improved.
After the meet, the team joined for an after party at the Taylor household for some refreshments and food for all the hungry swimmers. Sophomore Jessica Garrison said, “We may have not won, but our after party was probably better than theirs!”
