November 1, 2017 – The Bainbridge Fire Department has cleared the KIS building for occupancy after 911 was called and the building was evacuated when one teacher and several students reported feeling ill from an odor in a hallway. The teacher and several students were evaluated on-site by Bainbridge Fire Department. No one passed out or was transported.
Bainbridge Fire Department investigated the incident and determined that it was caused by an initial dust burn from starting up an auxiliary heating unit. Aside from regular custodial work in the building, no maintenance projects were being done during the day. Bainbridge Fire inspected the building and there were no detectable odors of gas or presence of carbon monoxide.
After school activities will continue as scheduled. Classes will resume tomorrow, November 2, as normal.
