Welcome to Speech and Language 2014-15

August 25, 2014

Hello Parent(s)!

Welcome back to another year at Kenston! This year, I am serving students in 4-6th grades needing speech and language services. When working with your child, I strive to apply goals and objectives to the curriculum in order for speech and language to be more authentic and meaningful to our students. I do not regularly assign formal homework, however, I will send home language or speech based strategies to apply to homework. For example, I will provide strategies to apply when learning new concepts/vocabulary, use vocabulary words to practice a misarticulated sound, or expressive language skills, etc. Please let me know how you feel I could best support your child.

The best way to contact me is via e-mail or phone. I strive to respond within the same working day. Please contact me with any questions or concerns. Your student will be bringing home a note when their speech/language session is scheduled.

I am looking forward to another great year here at Kenston.

Practice, practice, practice!!!  Learning and correcting a sound error is like learning a motor movement.  The more a child practices, the faster the new motor movement will “gel”.   Once the brain has established the motor movement, the child will no longer have to think about it!!!  So, practice, practice, practice!!!
