How to Apply for NHS

Are you a current Sophomore or Junior interested in joining Kenston’s chapter of the National Honor Society? If so, that’s great! The application cycle takes place in the fall every year. The basic requirement for joining is to have a minimum 3.5 weighted GPA and be in good academic and moral standing in all classes and extracurricular activities. If you meet the 3.5 GPA requirement, you will be able to pick up an NHS application packet at fall student orientation (or other specified time). The packet contains a cover letter with due dates, the induction date, requirements for recommendation letters, and essay questions. This is followed by a letter of intent stating the applicant’s willingness to uphold NHS standards and to abide by the Faculty Council’s decisions. Also included is a copy of the Kenston NHS bylaws, and candidate information and certification pages. Please keep in mind that entrance into the organization is competitive, and not all applicants will be accepted and ultimately inducted. NHS is centered around the four pillars–scholarship, leadership, service, and character; these qualities contribute to successful applicants. For more information, visit the officer-run website.
