Success at Mentor

The Speech and Debate Team traveled to Mentor High School this past weekend and was very successful. Stephen Kale had a last minute switch in events while on the bus and decided to do public forum debate for his first time with Henry Cregar. The team did very well as their first time competing as partners. Karissa Sanchez did her first Speech and Debate tournament of the year and placed eleventh in the declamation category. Several competitors received NSDA honor society membership this past weekend including the following: Phoebe Peiffer, Chloe Peiffer, Nathan Gaskins, Skylar Cinch, Avery Steinberg, and David Marshall. Henry Cregar said, “Congratulations to all, it was a very good tournament.”

Debate Topics

The first topics for Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum Debate came out Sunday, October 1. Debate-A-Thon Fundraiser

On May 17, the Kenston Speech and Debate team hosted a fundraiser called the Debate-a-thon. The fundraiser consisted of students competing in pairs on the debate topic of: “Science leaves no room for free will.” The fundraiser occurred in order to fulfill the requirements of a grant.
