Bombers Rout Comets in First Game of the Season

The Kenston boys lacrosse team had a remarkable win against Solon for their first game of the season Tuesday Night, with the final score of 10-3.

As the boys were happy to come out with the win against the adept program that Solon has, head coach Jay Lammers was more than pleased to see the young men win in a different fashion, as this was the first time Kenston had beaten the Division 1 rival.

“It was great to earn our program’s first win ever over Solon, a perennial Division 1 power,” Lammers states in retrospect to the astounding game his program had. “The boys played with such amazing heart, effort & intensity; setting a great tone for the rest of our season last night. It was fun to see what we can do when the whole team is focused on playing our style of lacrosse. Everyone from our captains to our freshmen were locked in and it really showed up on the field and on the scoreboard. I could not be more proud of our team and coaching staff -it was a great night for Kenston lacrosse.”

Despite the assertive win over Solon, senior midfielder Norman Kubbins found peculiarity in the vitality and mentality that his teammates played with.

“We had incredible energy for the first game of the year, which is weird for a Kenston lacrosse team,” Kubbins, the winner of the Golden Hammer, said. “Everyone bought in and knew their role. In addition to that, it was our first ever program win against Solon which really boosted our confidence.” Kubbins finished the game with a hat trick, scoring three goals and adding one assist to his stat line Tuesday.

The Boys are at home for their home opener against another skilled team in Jackson on Thursday.
