The Food Service Department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students’ health, well-being and their ability to learn. Our department’s mission is to provide a variety of nutritious foods students love while keeping fiscal responsibility in mind and adhering to National School Lunch Program regulations. Please see the District website for more information about the nutrition guidelines we follow.
Lunch menus can be accessed through the District website. You will find that the lunch menus look a little different this year. The Nutrislice menu program allows parents and students to filter lunch menus to identify specific allergen-containing foods and to view nutrition information. A Nutrislice app is available for download by clicking on the app buttons on any lunch menu or by searching the app store.
We are happy to announce that KHS will once again be participating in the National School Lunch Program along with the other school buildings. This will enable eligible high school students to receive free and reduced-price meals and will ensure that the Food Service Department is providing healthy, well-rounded meals to KHS students. 2017 Free & Reduced Application are distributed to every family at the beginning of each school year but they can also be found on the district website and in each school building’s office.
Student lunch prices for the 2017-18 school year are $3.55. Reduced-price lunches are $0.40.
Snacks, a la carte items and beverages meeting the Smart Snack Guidelines will be available for purchase for grades 2-12 this school year. Please see the District website for a complete listing of prices and snack choices by school. You will also find a summary of the Smart Snack Guidelines on the District website. You may call or email the Food Service office to place purchasing restrictions on your student’s account if you do not wish for them to purchase anything other than a complete meal.
In order to continue to provide lunches at a reasonable price, it is important that all student accounts are kept up to date. Please see the District’s charge guidelines for more information about student charges.
There are three ways to apply money to your child’s account:
- Mail a check payable to “Kenston Board of Education” to: Kenston High School, 9500 Bainbridge Rd., Chagrin Falls, OH 44023 ATTN: Food Service
- Students can submit lunch account payments at school.
- Online electronic payment at myschoolaccount.com.
Please keep in mind that funds deposited online are not available in students’ lunch accounts until the following day.
The food service staff works hard to provide healthy and enjoyable lunches to our students. We value any input that parents or students may have.
