Kenston High School is proud to announce that seniors Abigail Vossler, Jacqueline Jeromin, and William Parsons have been named Finalists in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
The National Merit Scholar process is based on critical reading, mathematics and writing skills scores earned on a student’s Pre-Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT). The award process begins during a student’s junior year with more than 1.5 million students vying for the National Merit Scholar title. At the beginning of one’s senior year, this number is narrowed down to 50,000 students of which two-thirds are named Commended Scholars, and the remaining one-third are named National Merit Semifinalists.
Semifinalists are the highest-scoring individuals in their home state. Those students who move forward in the competition and are selected as Finalists have the chance to compete for 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million dollars and earn the nationally recognized and coveted Merit Scholar title.
